Cher
"Believe"
(Warner Bros)
-Franco Vlasic
Cher has come up with her attempt for a comeback, however she has left
it up to everyone but herself to create with this semi-impresive album.
It seems as if one day she showed up a
t the studio
and recorded the lyrics that had been written out for her, not one of the
credits on the record goes out to Cher. This album isn't half bad though.
Techno-Cher would be an adequate name for the former seventies rock icon
who has "made" an album that is all computer generated, with a
few exceptions. Most of the songs sound pretty similar and it gets kind
of boring, but some tracks have a funky sound and give the record
an interesting twang. "Believe" the song that starts off the record
(and is supposedly a worldwide smash single) is mediocre, but is pleasant
and one of the more favorable tracks on the record. "Dov'e L'Amore"
is arguably the best single on the album, because of the beautiful but short
piece of music played on a classical guitar that heads off the song in the
beginning and echoes under the techno beats throughout the song.
