It's been so long, Generation
X probably won't know or remember him, but no one can deny that Boy George,
lead singer for the eighties wonder, Culture Club, was a speaker for the
people. Since 1981, Culture Club has been pumping out top ten hits such
as "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?," "Karma Chameleon,"
and "Time," among others. Although the band suffered from internal
problems, such as the hyped relationship between Jon Moss and Boy George,
they were wildly successful; however, this all changed during Boy George's
acceptance speech for the 1984 Grammy Award for Best Newcomer, when he officially
declared that he was a homosexual. The band then faced a large homophobic
audience, and their record sales declined significantly. Their next two
singles did not succeed, and after many difficulties, the band called it
quits.
Now, after years of tragic misfortune, Culture Club is back together with a collection of their greatest moments, and a live VH-1 performance, which includes new songs such as "I Just Want To Be Loved," "Some Strange Voodoo" and "What Do You Want." The retrospective CD features a studio recording of "I Just Want to Be Loved."
