Way back in 1987, a guy named Lauren decided to form a metal band. Yeah, I know it sounds funny (and it is). The band was named Drown. A band that merged electronic elements with hard rock. Sound new and exciting? Obviously not, since every little teen angst poseur who has started a band recently follows this genre. Whether or not they were ripping off Drown doesn't matter. Drown, the original teen angst poseurs, are here and they're going to yell about their problems over some really bad music, and you know what, you're all gonna enjoy it, like it or not!

With bands like Deftones, Rob Zombie, Rammstein, Limp Bizkit, KoRn, and to much lesser extent, Clay People, Prong and Slipknot running around, a whole post-metal movement has been sparked, but quite frankly, a lot of these bands are terrible. Rob Zombie is terrible. Limp Bizkit is terrible (although they do amuse me on occasions). Rammstein has a lot of stage presence and entertainment value. Deftones and Korn are the better bands in the bunch because they both back up their rage with somewhat decent lyrics. If you can’t provide lyrically, you should provide the goods musically, like the Clay People. Drown on the other hand, don’t do much for me. Even as a metal band, they just don’t really strike me as very smart. The only decent song on the album is a cover song of “Kerosene” by Big Black, with the rest of the tracks coming off as whiny angst rock.

The band has been around since 1987, so it must’ve been created when they were all four, because the lyrics sound like they were written by a whiny sixteen year old. The sleeve reads “To Those Responsible For The Past 3 Years...Fuck You.” Being that the members of Drown must be sixteen, they're probably talking about puberty. Don’t worry guys, the acne goes away, but next time, do us a favor and don’t put music to your awful teen angst opus.
