Throughout the entire evening, the audience found themselves unable to resist tapping their feet. With music that is deeply groove-based, immensely harmonious, and saturated with infectious melodies, Everything is a band worthy of public attention.
The rarely seen combination of great music, really enjoyable stage prescence, and a love of performing makes Everything a rare type of band -- a good one. The one song you may know, Hooch, which contains that thoroughly sing-a-long-able refrain heard all over the radio last year, was delivered with aplomb. The rest of the set, however, for newcomers and fans alike, was an evenings worth of shake your groove thang music.
Playing several songs from their most recent release, along with a bunch of new tunes from an upcoming one, the bands set was more than satisfying. Ladybug, a track I found somewhat cloying as a studio recording, was nothing of the kind live, and it turned out to be a standout track of the evening. Supernatural and The Real were high points as well.
After watching this exceptional group of musicians, it was clear they have played together for a while and, hopefully, will continue to do so. Lead vocalist Rich Bradley sang each note with conviction and assuredness. Guitarist Dave Van Dam added some exceedingly swift and sweet strumming, while drummer Nate Brown and bassist David Slankard kept the infectious groove going steadily. Throughout the entire evening, the ensemble never once fell short. |
