K Rock Lo Do Show (feat/ Pushmonkey, Placebo and Kid Rock)
Irving Plaza
New York, NY

'Odd' is the only word that comes to mind when describing the performance given by none other than Kid Rock. The tone was set when two strippers were brought onstage: this show was going to be wild. When not playing tracks from his major label debut, "Devil Without A Cause," Kid Rock (a.k.a. Bob Ritchie) preached to the crowd about his views of pimping, sex and self esteem. The crowd hailed him as he called Monica Lewinsky "a motherfuckin' whore".
Upon the opening chords to "Cowboy," a horse came onstage to further enhance the enviromnent. With what appeared to be a child (actually a midget) saying 'Fuck You' to the crowd, the shock value was certainly high. The show ended with "Conductor's Jam," in which Kid Rock prompted each instrument with a drum stick.
Brian Molko of Placebo, clad in female garb, came onstage at least an hour late, in a successful effort to reduce Pushmonkey's set. Broadcasting "Pure Morning" on the air, the entire band seemed much more satisfied than at their previous CMJ engagement.
The entire show, with the exception of Placebo, is due to be rebroadcasted online in early January.
