K ROCK 36th Lo Do Show

Hammerstein Ballroom, 11/28/98

New York, NY

K Rock's 36th Lo Do show in New York, featuring Janus Stark, Remy Zero, Stuttering John, the Flys, and Godsmack, should have been titled "Bands you haven't heard of...yet."

Remy Zero, one of the hottest up and coming bands in the industry, gave an ethereal performance that brought the audience under their trance. Stuttering John, one of the nights more interesting performers, really caught my attention when he broke into an extremely mediocre rendition of the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields" that would have sent John Lennon spinning in his grave.

Janus Stark, one of the few new-generation Brit-punk bands, took the audience by storm with songs like "Panic Attack," "Clique," and their single, "Every Little Thing Counts" (all from their LP, "Great Adventure Cigar"). Lead vocalist and guitarist, Gizz Butt, riled up the audience with his witty and rebellious stage presence.

The Flys, the night's headlining acts, took the stage with a rap/rock intro, before breaking into "Give You My Car" and their forthcoming single, "She's So Huge". Their mega-hit single, "Got You (Where I Want You)," was broadcasted live on 92.3 K-Rock, and was perhaps the evening's most exhilirating performance.

If you haven't heard any of these artists before, flip on your radio. If they aren't on, they'll be there soon.
