It's been a long road travelled, but Mariah Carey has found her place in the music world, and "#1's" is a collection of every song that has helped her get to her current level of fame. Carey flaunts her incredible vocal ranges in classic songs like "Emotions" and "Someday," along with several other number one hits. Listening is almost like looking at a progress chart: one can hear that over time, the music turns from slow to poppy, and eventually reaches the point of being classified as R&B.

In her recent collaboration with Whitney Houston, Carey goes back to her original styles, where all that matters is the beauty and unhuman depth of voice. The trade off between Carey and Houston is like listening to two godesses alternating lines, as each has a remarkable voice.

This record is simply a reminder of her capability. Most artists are lucky to get two number one hits in their entire career, yet Carey has managed to fill an entire compact disc with hers. This young star can already consider herself a legend.
