It’s the third anniversary of Z100’s morning show, the 'Z Morning Zoo,' and what’s a station to do? Simple. Get seven of today’s hottest musicians together (Sugar Ray, Britney Spears, 98°, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Sixpence None The Richer, UB40) and hold a concert, pricing tickets just low enough that every member of their thirteen year old audience can afford one.

The slightly out of place UB40 managed to successfully get the audience into their groove with little effort at all. The audience screamed in approval as lead singer Ali Campbell paced from side to side of the stage, belting out his vocals. The band played select tracks from their most recent release, “Labour Of Love III,” a cover record celebrating their musical influences.

Sixpence None The Richer, a relatively new band hot off the success of their single, “Kiss Me,” played a short but sweet set which concluded with a cover of the L.A.’s “There She Goes.” Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre (former members of teen sensations New Kids On The Block) both performed, but only has one established a new identity. Joey McIntyre, clad in leather pants and a glittery disco shirt, attempted to transcend his previous image, but Jordan Knight, dressed in black from head to toe, remained ensconced in his New Kids' persona.

Sitting on deck was Britney Spears. Clad in an oversize yellow jumpsuit, she was surprisingly graceful onstage, finally taking the opportunity to show off her true talent and remarkable voice. What could be a better backdrop for her electrifying set but a wall of sparks, dropped halfway through her performance of her latest single, “Sometimes"?

Led by Mark McGrath, Sugar Ray, the highlight band of the evening, presented their music in full-on rock, which comes unexpected in contrast to the genre of their radio-friendly music. Sending the girls wild, lead singer Mark McGrath sang the opening notes of their first hit, “Fly,” but not before a brief dedication to his grandmother who recently passed away.

Finally, the four men who single handedly set off an atomic bomb of estrogen: 98°. Following the usual boy band plan, they made a grand appearance and didn’t leave until they had broken every heart in the arena with their enticing vocal harmonies and amazing choreography. All in time for the audience to get back for curfew.
